After the colossal month of horror game releases in October, November is keeping up the pace. There’s a bunch of fantastic indie horror games coming out, as well as some heavy-hitters like Slitterhead – from the creator of the original Silent Hill – and the long-awaited S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2. Check out the biggest horror game releases for November 2024 below:

Homicipher – November 1st

Developers: Yatsukigi

Available on: PC (Steam)

Homicipher is a horror romance game that involves deciphering the mysterious language of cryptic non-human entities who are also kinda sexy? Try to interpret what the entities are saying to foster a dangerous romance, but any missteps and miscommunication can lead to sudden death.

Slitterhead – November 8th

Developers: Bokeh Game Studio

Available on: PS4 / PS5, Xbox Series X | S, PC (Steam)

Slitterhead is an upcoming action-adventure survival horror game from the legendary Keiichiro Toyama, the creator of Silent Hill. You play as a Hyoki, “entities devoid of memory and physical form” who hunt down the monstrous Slitterheads that disguise themselves as humans.

Hyoki can possess and control different humans at will, to infiltrate different organizations and areas when needed. Switching hosts lets you continue the fight against Slitterheads even when you are critically wounded. Plus, possessing special humans known as “Rarities” provides you with superior stamina and damage, and grants you access to unique combat abilities such as creating a gravity field of blood to pull enemies close together.

Is This Game Trying to Kill Me? – November 13th

Developers: Stately Snail

Available on: PC (Steam)

Is this Game Trying to Kill Me? is a first-person horror puzzle game, a mixture somewhere between Inscryption and Escape Academy. The player is trapped inside a cabin with a computer preloaded with a retro dungeon adventure game on it and has to solve puzzles to escape.

Pretty soon, the traps from the game begin to appear in the cabin, and your actions in the cabin also affect the computer game. One wrong step on the computer can lead to an Indiana Jones-style death in the cabin.

Sorry We’re Closed – November 14th

Developers: à la mode games

Available on: PC (Steam, Green Man Gaming)

Sorry We’re Closed is a survival horror game that blends nostalgic elements of classic survival horrors – such as fixed camera angles and resource management – with a colorful and camp aesthetic.

The game follows Michelle – the very stylish main character – as she fights to break free from a demon’s curse. She can peer between worlds to reveal enemies’ weak points and find secrets hidden in the demon world. Plus, you can choose to help or hinder the residents of the town in side stories, which can affect the ending that you earn.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl – November 20th

Developers: GSC Game World

Available on: Xbox Series X | S, PC (Steam, Green Man Gaming)

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is a first-person horror shooter set in a vast post-apocalyptic open world within the radioactive Chornobyl Exclusion Zone. Playing as a S.T.A.L.K.E.R – brave adventurers who entered the Zone to seek out priceless artifacts – you’ll run into warring factions, deadly anomalies, and terrifying, unpredictable mutants.

The game features a “highly branching” story with choices that will determine your fate and the fate of the Zone. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 also features a life simulation system called “A Life 2.0”, which will dynamically control events and encounters within the Zone, and alter the behavior of the mutants.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 has experienced multiple delays and is the first game in the series to be released in 15 years, marking it as one of the most anticipated releases of this year.

Platform 8 – November 28th

Developers: KOTAKE CREATE

Available on: Nintendo Switch, PS4 / PS5, already on PC (Steam)

One of my favorite indie horrors of 2024 has to be The Exit 8, a fascinating spot-the-difference game featuring an ever-looping, liminal space Japanese metro station. The sequel to Exit 8 – the similarly named Platform 8 – sees the player trapped on a never-stopping train. Keep an eye out for any anomalies on the carriage, and find enough in a row to escape.

Plus, if you want to play both The Exit 8 and Platform 8, a double pack will also be available featuring both games.

So, which of these horror games do you have your eye on for November? Personally, I’m looking forward to Slitterhead and Sorry We’re Closed, but I’ll definitely also check out S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 on Game Pass!
