December is going to be a busy month for Outlast Trials fans. Not only is the popular Christmas event Winter Kills returning, but the game is also getting its anticipated Season 2 content update. And it’s a big one.
An Escaped Reagent
On December 10th, Red Barrels are pushing Season 2: Project Breach live to all platforms (PC, Xbox Series X|S and PS5). The main feature is Amelia – a reagent who has escaped from the trials, but has remained within the walls of the Sinyala facility to try and sabotage the Murkoff corporation.
The Narrative Designer at Red Barrels – Jonathon Morrell – mentioned that Amelia’s story will hopefully “offer Reagents some form of solace, a change at a collaborative revolt”.
If you want to learn more about Amelia, Red Barrels have already released a free comic about her story.
The Pitcher
Amelia isn’t the only one who’ll be causing chaos in the Sinyala facility. During the trials, keep an eye out for the new Ex-Pop enemy – the Pitcher. They’ll throw Molotov cocktails at you from a distance, and if you get too close, then you’ll be at the receiving end of a fiery breath attack. Refer to the picture below to see your fate if that happens.
Pleasure the Prosecutor
It wouldn’t be a major update for the Outlast Trials without a new trial. This time, the brand-new Downtown map will be home to the “Pleasure the Prosecutor” trial.
There are also two new MK-Challenges on the way – Reunite the Family and Deface the Futtermans. Just from the names of these challenges and the trial, I’d be prepared for some very gory and uncomfortable scenes.
The Jammer
We’re also really excited to test out the brand-new RIG, called the Jammer. This lets you disable traps and electronic devices from a safe distance. I bet this is going to be really useful, but we’ll see if it’s enough to convince me to put my Heal RIG away.
And that’s not it either. There’s going to be three new AMPs (upgrades), a new reborn ending, as well as improvements to the psychosis mechanic and the Escalation Therapy game mode.
Winter Kills
Coinciding with the release of Season 2: Project Breach is the Winter Kills event. Players can earn limited time winter-themed cosmetics, including some of last year’s outfits if you missed them. Plus, the trials will feature a new variation called “Frost Mines” that will replace the gas mines. This year, the event is split into two parts:
- Part 1: December 10th – December 24th
- Part 2: December 24th – January 7th
We’re not exactly sure what both parts of the event entails right now, so keep an eye out on official channels until then.
Let us know whether you’re planning on diving back into the Outlast Trials when Season 2: Project Breach arrives on December 10th.
