What’s Coming to DBD in 2023: Year 7 Roadmap Update

The developers have announced a number of features coming to DBD within the next 4 months. Annually, June is the anniversary of Dead by Daylight’s release, and is usually marked by a special in-game event and a roadmap for the year ahead. Last June, we got told about a number of upcoming features such as the Attack on Titan collaboration and The Dredge. On January 26th 2023, the developers have added to this roadmap for the year, with features set to arrive before the next anniversary event in June. Let’s dive into what’s coming to DBD in the first half of 2023.

Edit: The 7th Anniversary event has now happened! It revealed a new chapter, a year 8 roadmap and Nicolas Cage? Check out all the announcements and new updates here.

What is the next Dead by Daylight Chapter?

As always, we can expect the game to be on time with the release of new chapters, killers and survivors. Chapter 27 is set to release in March, featuring a new survivor and killer. It is unknown whether this will be a licensed or original chapter. In the last year, Dead By Daylight has released two original chapters – Roots of Dread and Forged in Fog, and one licensed chapter – Resident Evil Project W. Thus, it is likely it might be another licensed chapter. Here’s hoping for Alien or Friday The 13th. Anyways, it is little over a month until we find out.

What Quality of Life Updates are Coming to Dead by Daylight?

The blogpost also mentions that the game will release a bunch of quality of life updates before June. This includes:

  • Streamlining your ability to spend bloodpoints quicker and faster than before. Currently it takes quite some time to get through each character’s bloodweb, especially since the prestige cap was raised to 100.
  • They are also looking to prevent you from playing on the same map twice in a row. Thus, getting two killer matches in a row on the pallet-heavy The Game will no longer be possible. It will also mean that it is unlikely to be placed on that map for a few matches afterwards as well, although that will still be up to chance.
  • For those who are deaf or hard of hearing, they have announced new accessibility features which will enable a visual terror radius. This means you can turn on the ability to see the Terror Radius if you are unable to hear it.
  • Many players enjoy playing in custom games, so you will be glad to hear that survivor bots will be able to have their own loadouts, increasing variety in these custom matches with bots.
  • Finally, as always, the developers are planning a bunch of perk updates to shake up the meta, notably targeting the killler perk Eruption which is currently very strong .

Dead by Daylight is set to have an extremely strong 2023, as all these features are set to come out before the anniversary event, which is typically where the big collaborations and chapter announcements happen.

Make sure to check out the recent Mid-Chapter Update which featured survivor activity icons and massive Nurse nerfs.
