Clones have been a staple in horror for decades, tapping into our fear of losing identity and being replaced. From the alien doppelgangers in Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) to the tethered in Us (2019), the horror of encountering a clone creates an unsettling atmosphere of paranoia.
Now, Behaviour Interactive — the studio behind Dead by Daylight — is leaning into that fear with an upcoming clone-hunting roguelite.
It Has My Face, from NightByte Games, drops players into a chaotic, procedurally generated world. You’ll need to track down your clone, somewhere amongst the crowd of civilians, and eliminate them before they do the same to you. With unpredictable environments, random AI, and a mix of horror and roguelike elements, every playthrough keeps you on edge, forcing you to stay ahead of your evolving clone at all costs.
It Has My Face offers a variety of gameplay features that make each playthrough feel fresh and tense. One of the standout elements is its procedural generation, ensuring that no two runs are ever the same. Every environment is random, and the AI is designed to keep players on their toes, with the clone adapting to your actions as you go.
Your clone is hiding among the crowd, ready to kill you when you’re at your most vulnerable. You’ll need to search for weapons, keep an eye on your limited ammo, and carefully study the hundreds of faces around you to spot your clone before it strikes. The game lets you eliminate your clone in multiple ways — whether through weapons, clever use of the environment, or manipulating the crowd to your advantage.
It Has My Face is the brainchild of NightByte Games, an indie studio founded by brothers Salih and Furkan Ünal. The game started life as a class project and was later developed further during a game jam. After gaining traction on itch.io, it caught the attention of Behaviour Interactive, who stepped in as publisher. With over 40 projects under their belt, the Ünal brothers are no strangers to experimental game design — and It Has My Face looks like their most ambitious project yet.
It Has My Face is set to launch in Early Access on Steam later this year. A free demo is available now on Steam, giving players a taste of the tense, paranoia-fueled gameplay.
