Resident Evil 9: Requiem Officially Revealed, Launching February 2026

The Summer Games Fest always saves a big surprise for last – and this year, it was a huge one. After a string of Resident Evil teases throughout the show (that frankly felt like trolling), Capcom finally dropped the bombshell: Resident Evil 9 is real.

Officially titled Resident Evil: Requiem, the game was revealed with a cinematic announcement trailer as the showcase’s closing moment.

The trailer begins in an FBI office, where a technical analyst, Grace,  is called into her supervisor’s office. He tells her the serial killer they’ve been tracking has struck again – this time at the same hotel where her mother was murdered eight years prior.

From there, the trailer takes a much darker turn. We see the analyst tied up in the hotel, flashes of grotesque monsters, someone being suffocated with a plastic bag, and a dramatic reveal of the once-iconic Raccoon City Police Station now lying in ruins.

The trailer ends with the release date: February 27, 2026.

Following the trailer, Summer Games Fest host Geoff Keighley confirmed that Resident Evil: Requiem will be playable at Gamescom this August. He added:

Resident Evil: Requiem marks a bold shift for the franchise, both in tone and gameplay. And today’s reveal isn’t just about survival horror – expect high-stakes cinematic action too, with much more to share soon leading up to its launch on February 27, 2026.”
