Our favourite ghost-hunting horror game Phasmophobia has revealed their content roadmap for 2024 and beyond. The developer update included information about the new lighthouse map called Point Hope, a brand-new type of evidence, and details about the game’s launch from early access. Let’s check out all the cool stuff that they teased for the future of Phasmophobia.

The Roadmap for 2024 and Beyond

As a part of the new developer update from Kinetic Games, they shared this graphic with all the upcoming features for the next year (and beyond):

As you can see, there’s a lot of big gameplay changes coming to Phasmophobia this year, but also a lot of nice quality of life and balance updates.

Lighting Updates

The first update – including the lighting overhaul and eye adaption – has already released to players. The lighting overhaul fixed many lighting issues that players were having, whilst adding some realistic lighting features. For example, the eye adaption setting lets your eyes adapt in dark areas over time, just like in real life.

Video Evidence

Excitingly, they’ve announced that they will be adding a new type of evidence – video evidence. I’ve always wanted them to add video evidence, as it seems like a much more logical way of proving a ghost’s existence compared to photo evidence. We still don’t know how this evidence is going to work, so hopefully it’s more than just leaving a video camera in the corner of the room.

New Player and Ghost Models

Later down the line, they are also adding in new player and ghost models and animations. Whilst I do love the current janky and goofy look of the Phasmophobia player models, it’ll definitely make the game scarier!

Phasmophobia Full Release Information

When the game fully releases from early access, there will also be what the developers call ‘Horror 2.0’. This will include a complete overhaul of the hunt system and ghost events and add in hallucinations. All these changes are designed to make the game feel scarier. This is definitely what I’m most excited about, as after a while, the jump-scares do start getting repetitive and less scary.

Don’t worry though, the developers have assured that they will still release new content once the game is out of early access!

Phasmophobia Console Release Date Update

Last year, the developers finally announced that Phasmophobia was coming to Xbox and PlayStation. Unfortunately, the developers were unable to release the ports on time, with issues such as a fire in the studio contributing to the delay. Whilst this roadmap doesn’t provide a release date, the developers mentioned that the Xbox and PlayStation versions will release in 2024 as soon as they’re ready.

New Maps and Map Reworks

The update also shines light on the newest map coming to Phasmophobia called Point Hope. Point Hope is a lighthouse map and will provide unique gameplay due to the building’s shape. Seeing as the most recent map release – Sunny Meadows – was by far the most detailed and spooky map that they’ve ever released, I’ve got really high hopes for Point Hope. The developers even shared some screenshots of some different floors on the lighthouse, which look very awesome.

Not only will there be a brand-new map, but both the farmhouse maps are receiving huge reworks. The developers mentioned that they want the Bleasdale and Grafton Farmhouse maps to feel more distinctive from each other.

As a part of this rework, Grafton Farmhouse will now feature a seamstress’ workshop filled with creepy old mannequins, and Bleasdale’s huge attic will be split into two rooms. Of course, there’s also a number of other changes these maps will receive, so check out the official post to read more.

Final Thoughts

And that’s most the big content updates announced in the roadmap. Here’s hoping that Point Hope and the console release are coming soon, as we cannot wait to get on hands on them.
