The Convenience Store is one of the earliest games by Chilla’s Art, a Japanese development duo specializing in indie horrors, and is arguably the game that really put Chilla’s Art games on the map. You play as a college girl working the night shift at her local convenience store, where she encounters rude customers, terrifying ghosts, and a mysterious stranger who drops off VHS tapes.
In this guide, we will walk you through how to get all 5 achievements and both endings in the Convenience Store.
Homeless – Help the homeless
The first achievement – Homeless – can only be earned on the first night. As you are clearing expired food from the shelves, instead of bringing one of the bags to the bin out back, give it to the homeless man sitting outside the store. When you leave the store, turn left around the corner, and you’ll see the homeless man sitting behind the vending machine.
Expiration Date – Check all the expiration dates on the shelves
Still on the first night, check every single shelf on Aisle 5 to see if the food is expired. Once you’ve checked all of the shelves, you’ll earn the Expiration Date achievement.
Security – Use the CCTV 5 times.
This achievement is fairly self-explanatory. As you play, interact with the CCTV camera a total of 5 times, and you’ll get the Security achievement.
Endings 1 & 2
At the end of the 3rd night, a VHS will appear outside the front doors of the convenience store, causing them to repeatedly open and close.
Picking up the tape will take you back to your apartment and the fourth night. Here, you are given two options – either watch the tape or place the tape into the cardboard box on the table.
If you put the VHS in the box, you will earn Ending 1 (the Good Ending). The main character returns the tape to the sender and she feels a weight lifted off of her shoulders.
The end text reveals that she researched the history of the convenience store, and discovered it is built on the same site where a murder-suicide took place a decade before. Once she finds out this information, she calls her manager, but the phone is answered by the franchise owner, who informs us that her manager was found dead.
Understandably, the protagonist quits her part-time job and tries to steer clear of the convenience store. The store closes shortly after, but when she walks past it, she sees the female ghost inside the convenience store, and hears the voice of the little boy!
If you decide to watch the VHS, you get Ending 2. This is considered the Bad Ending as it’s implied that the female ghost kills you while you’re in bed. You can also receive Ending 2 if you throw the tape into the trash
When I first played the Convenience Store, I watched the tape as I was curious what was on it, unaware that I was about to cause my character’s death!
