Haunted House Renovator is an upcoming horror simulation game where players clean and fix up haunted houses. People don’t typically leave their houses in the best condition when they’re actively being haunted, so expect there to be lots of trash, mud, and blood to clean up when you arrive.
Of course, ghosts aren’t the best selling point in real estate, so you’ll also have to find their weaknesses and banish them before you eventually sell. Alternatively, the developers suggest you can just hide the “door to a haunted cellar behind some heavy furniture” and let the buyers star in their own horror movie.
When dealing with spirits – and there are multiple in each location – you’ll have to look around, find clues, and solve puzzles to learn how to get rid of them. We’re talking spraying the entity with holy water or performing a complex ritual to banish it.
Aside from the cleaning and ghost-banishing, there’s also an array of decorations that you can use to spice up the home’s decor. Why don’t you cover the demonic ritual circle on the wall with a fresh new wallpaper, or replace the blood-soaked sofa with a new leather couch?
There’s a pretty wide variety of environments and decor too, from the stereotypical haunted Victorian Mansion to sleek Art Deco apartments.
From first impressions, Haunted House Renovator looks like a light-hearted and camp simulator game that leans into goofiness and fun. You can try it out for yourself with their free Steam demo. Following the game’s successful Kickstarter campaign, it will release on Steam, Xbox and PlayStation.
