Just as Terrifier 3—one of the most controversial and gruesome horror movies of the year—hits cinemas worldwide, another big announcement has been made about the franchise. Art the Clown and the Terrifier universe are being adapted into a video game format next year with Terrifier: The ARTcade Game, a pixelated beat-’em-up.
As you’d expect from the Terrifier franchise, the game promises to crank the gore up to 11, featuring blood-soaked attacks and brutal finishing moves. In this game, you’ll play as Art the Clown himself, wreaking havoc on police officers, actors, makeup artists, and anyone else unlucky enough to cross your path. A variety of weapons—from chainsaws to cleavers—are at your disposal to unleash as much chaos and carnage as possible.
One of the game’s most surprising features is its 4-player local co-op mode. Your friends can join in, taking on the roles of the franchise’s strange supporting cast. Across six game modes, you can either team up with your friends or compete against them to complete levels.
At first glance, I thought the game was part of Retrorealms Arcade, which is releasing licensed Evil Dead and Halloween pixelated platformers later this October. However, Terrifier: The ARTcade Game is its own beast, developed by Revelo and published by Selecta Play. The game is set to launch in 2025 for Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch.
