Clearly 2024 is the year of the Until Dawn resurgence. It’s already been announced that an Until Dawn movie adaptation is on the way, and now it’s been leaked that PS5 and PC ports of the PS4 classic are on the way!
Yesterday, prominent leaker billbil-kun and French publisher Dealabs reported that Supermassive Games’ narrative horror Until Dawn is being ported to both PS5 and PC. They also mentioned that the official announcement of the ports is imminent, due sometime within the next two weeks. If this turns out to be true, it’s great news for fans of Supermassive who haven’t been able to play what many regard as the studio’s greatest game.
Supermassive Games is a British studio known for their choice-based cinematic horror games. In these titles, the choices that the player makes deeply affect how the story progresses, very similarly to Telltale Games. The fates of all the playable characters are at risk, and depend on the players’ choices and quick time events, making for highly replayable stories.
Until Dawn originally released in 2015 as a PS4 exclusive game and has become a fan-favorite for its memorable characters, plot twist and branching storyline. Over recent years, Sony has become more open to releasing their first party games and exclusives on PC, making this leak feel pretty believable.
The game follows a group of young adults on vacation at their friend’s holiday home deep in the winter forest. Soon, their lives are threatened by a masked man – and worse – hunting them down.
Supermassive’s already got a busy 2024 planned. Alongside these rumored ports, they’ve announced a collaboration with Dead by Daylight, titled The Casting of Frank Stone, which will explore the Entity’s Realm and brand new survivors from the world of DBD.
They’ve also taken over the reigns of the Little Nightmares franchise for the third title in the series, having worked as a supporting studio on the previous game. And finally, the first entry in the second season of The Dark Pictures Anthology is thought to release sometime in 2024. Originally teased at the end of The Devil In Me, the newest game in the anthology is set in space, and titled Directive 8020.
